(n.) A structured outdoor activity, like hiking, horseback Riding, camping, backpacking, etc, performed mainly outdoors. An individual who spends much of his/her time outdoors, outside the home. Also known as the outdoors or the ‘backyard’. The parts of the Earth that receive full sun are known as the ‘mountains’.
The outdoor activities that we engage in mostly involve moving from one place to another. This movement of the body is known as moving outdoors or ‘going outdoors’. So when people say ‘you were going out’, it means that you went outdoors – i.e. you have visited other places. These places may be rivers, woods, oceans, hills, plains etc. In fact the word ‘outdoor’ is derived from the Latin word ‘orbis’ which means atmosphere, hence the popularity of the word ‘outdoor’.
We can classify these outdoor activities in different groups like cycling, fishing, hiking, mountaineering, swimming etc. Cycling is one of the most popular outdoor activities. It involves lots of mental and physical workout, cycling can be done both on a road and off road. It is widely accepted across the globe as one of the safest and fastest ways to get healthy and fit. relationship between man and nature.
Swimming is one of the best ways to cleanse your body and mind while spending quality time outdoors. Most of the outdoor activities are done in open water; hence the need to keep your body fit and fine by doing swimming. Many people enjoy going for swimming after a long tiring day at the office.
